Moss was born on February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He was a
former American football player who played 14 seasons in the National Football
League (NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders as well
as the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely recognized as
Jerry Rice's top wide receiver. He holds the NFL single season touchdown
reception record of 23 in 2007. the NFL rookie single-season touchdown records
(17 in 1998) and is second on the NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown
receptions with 156. Moss is famous for his ability to catch contested passes.
The term "mossed" which is now a part of the football vocabulary,
became famous because of the fact that he was a successful. Post-football, he
was working with ESPN as an analyst in its studios for the Sunday NFL Countdown
and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. Moss
was a student at DuPont High School. This was one of two schools that were
later consolidated to become Riverside High School. He excelled in basketball,
football and baseball. Randy was also part of the school's debate team. Moss
played a key role in leading the DuPont Panthers football team to two
consecutive state championships in 1992, 1993. The position he excelled at was
wide receiver. But Moss also played safety for free, punted kickoffs, and was
the team's punter and kicker. In 1994, he received the by the Kennedy Award as
the West Virginia Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to
their All-American high school football team in 1995, and in 2009 his name was
named as one of the top 50 football players from high schools ever.
